The MiniMed 780G system is designed with SmartGuard technology, an advanced algorithm that uses sugar level trends to anticipate, adjust, and correct insulin delivery. It is beneficial for people with Type 1 diabetes who have difficulty maintaining stable blood glucose levels using traditional insulin therapy methods. The system connects via Bluetooth enabling easy access to glucose and insulin data.

WavelinQ is the first major advancement in AV fistula creation for 50 years, for the first time giving clinicians technology and technique for a non-surgical option to create an AV fistula to allow the long-term dialysis treatment of patients with end stage kidney disease.

Nuralyte is a non-invasive photonic technology to induce topical and local anesthesia without needles. The technology addresses needle anxiety and phobia (Trypanophobia) and their negative impact on public’s attitude towards dentistry, vaccination and blood testing particular among children and special needs individuals.

Cool Beans Men’s Health Underwear is the world’s first and only testicular cooling medical device, designed to support men’s health. Engineered for optimal scrotal-support and cooling, through it’s elasticised mesh-pouch — regulating testicular heat by dissipating heat and sweat — optimising sperm health, pre & post-op recovery, and overall men’s physical and mental health as well as sexual performance.

Remplir is a purified type 1 collagen membrane for peripheral nerve repairs. The collagen is purified to remove materials that may elicit antigenic reactions and manufactured without cross-linking. Remplir is designed to protect the injured nerve following repair and provide a favourable environment for nerve regeneration. It permits the passage of fluids but acts as a barrier to cellular ingrowth.

The Symani System System is a tele-operated robot replicating a surgeon’s hand and wrist movements. The technology improves a surgeon’s precision and access during operations on small anatomical structures, allowing delicate handling and suturing. With tremor reducing and motion-scaling features, its  designed for complex microsurgery and super microsurgery. Uses include reconstruction after cancer, nerve repair, soft tissue and bone transfers, to lymphatic repair.

Annalise Enterprise CT Brain is a software-as-a-medical device intended to assist clinicians with the interpretation of non-contrast brain CT studies. The device analyses images within 2-minutes of acquisition and flags high priority studies in the radiologist work-list for rapid assessment. When interpreting studies, the device provides a “second set of eyes” reducing human bias and minimising the risk of misdiagnosis.

The Edwards Network of Women, known as (ENoW) ERG, re-launched in November 2023, with a focus on advancing women in leadership and promoting gender diversity, inclusion, and belonging within the company. The group has achieved notable progress through advocacy, professional development, mentorship, and hosting guest speakers. A key success has been the internal mentorship program, which has provided employees with invaluable guidance, creating a supportive community that empowers women to take on new goals and explore possibilities in their careers.

Boston Scientific has made significant strides in promoting diversity and inclusion within its workforce. The company has achieved a 51% representation of women in its workforce and has focused on attracting and developing female talent, with 52% of new hires in 2024 being females. Boston Scientific has also increased the presence of women in management and leadership positions to 43.4% through its “3Up by 2023” goal. These efforts have been recognised by Great Place To Work Australia, ranking the company 25th in the top 30 list of Australia’s Best Workplaces in 2024.

Karen is a highly visible, present and influential leader who works across many domains and supports employee groups across Asia Pacific and Greater China in her role as Senior Human Resources Director. Her leadership is evident through regular presentations at key events and her significant role in organisational transformation projects, demonstrating her quick thinking and astute business acumen.

Lucy, initiated the Women Without Limits (WWL) program in 2016. The program focuses on helping women overcome their fears and develop valuable skills through challenging experiences. Lucy’s dedication and passion were key in bringing the program to life. The WWL program takes women on journeys that equip them with new skills, introduce fresh challenges, and exposure to different situations, fostering stronger networks and lasting friendships.

Lisa is a versatile professional with a strong clinical background and strategic leadership skills. She advanced to the role of General Manager – Robotics in July 2020, making significant contributions to Device Technologies’ presence in surgical and hospital sectors. Recognised for her achievements, she was promoted to Director of Sales – Surgical & Hospital, showcasing her clinical expertise and leadership. Lisa’s unique blend of skills positions her as an influential figure in the healthcare industry.

Michelle is a seasoned leader with 18 years of experience in Sales, Marketing, and Digital transformation in the MedTech Industry. She is dedicated to meeting customer needs through innovative marketing strategies and solutions in the healthcare sector. Michelle also plays a crucial role in governance around Social Responsibility and holds advisory positions in various industry committees. In July 2023, she was promoted to the Senior Executive as Director of Marketing & Digital.

Grace’s efforts in advancing women in leadership and driving meaningful change have been remarkable. Leading the Edwards Network of Women ERG Group, she has nurtured an inclusive environment. Grace is a trusted partner and well respected by her colleagues for her thoughtfulness and ability to deliver results.  Her influence also extends to industry-wide initiatives, reflecting her commitment to driving change and promoting equity and excellence in the MedTech industry.

Paula has worked in the healthcare industry for more than 30 years, in the role of a registered nurse as well as in MedTech for 25 of those years. Today she co-leads J&J’s Women’s Leadership & Inclusion group and has a deep passion for developing women in their personal career journeys, leading the Mentoring Connections Program in recent years. Paula role models a passionate and successful working woman with an active and adventurous family life.

Judith joined Dentalife in 2019 and played a crucial role in the company’s rapid growth, from 8 to 30 staff members. Her commitment and leadership skills led to her promotion to General Manager. With a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Monash University, Judith is dedicated to improving the industry through exceptional leadership. She excels in change management and efficiency optimisation, prioritising personal and team development for the benefit of Dentalife.

With 10 years at Stryker, she has demonstrated outstanding contributions, proactive pursuit of new challenges, and dedication to influencing and encouraging others. Jenna has an optimistic approach to overcoming obstacles, and leans into initiatives outside of her role that have focused on mentoring and creating communities.

Catherine is an experienced HR leader dedicated to fostering an inclusive workplace and advancing gender equity. Her efforts have led to a notable increase in female leadership representation, improved engagement results, and certifications as a Great Place To Work, Best Workplace, and Employer of Choice for Gender Equality. Cat’s commitment to creating opportunities is evidenced through her leadership in talent sessions and development projects focused on advancing emerging female talent.

Michelle is an accomplished leader with over 19 years expertise in Sales, Marketing, and Digital transformation. She also spearheads governance on Social Responsibility, Community & Charity engagement, and the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) initiative at Device Technologies. Michelle actively contributes to industry advancement through her involvement in various committees, including the MTAA and B2B eCommerce Association. She is recognised as a thought leader and frequently speaks at industry leadership events.

Naomi is the Hip Marketing Manager for Depuy Synthes Australia, the orthopaedic company of Johnson and Johnson. Her role focuses on developing strategies and leading initiatives that shape and grow the Australian hip portfolio. With over 15 years’ experience in the Australian orthopaedic industry, Naomi has a wealth of experience supporting differentiated solutions to meet the patients, customers, and companies’ expectations. She has played a leading role in the Women in Orthopaedics initiative.

Kate has been the lead driver in positioning industry to respond to reform challenges around cardiac technical services and played a major role in developing the Value of Medtech Report.

She has built strong relationships with patient organisations and other stakeholders to strengthen the sector’s advocacy voice. Kate sits on Medtronic’s Global Government Affairs Extended Leadership Team (or ELT).

Kate has also overseen the development and implementation of the two first Reconciliation Action Plans as former Chair of Medtronic’s Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group, including development of an MOU with Indigenous Health Australia.

Kate sits on Medtronic’s ELT and is also an ELT Representative on Medtronic’s ANZ Diversity Council.

Samantha’s proactive leadership led to the successful re-launch of the Edwards Network of Women (E.NoW) ERG Group, driving impactful initiatives and enhancing the group’s presence. She also addressed communication gaps across Australia and New Zealand, ensuring effective dissemination of activities. Samantha’s championing of Viva Engage and a quarterly newsletter has fostered a more connected and inclusive workplace community.

Breanna is a dynamic senior leader and marketer within the Baxter Advanced Surgery business, supporting the field sales team and managing supply chain, marketing and commercial strategy. Breanna has championed equity within Baxter and the wider Medical Device industry through involvement with the Women in Medtech committee and as a representative on Baxter’s DE&I council.

Her expertise includes acquiring and upholding numerous product certifications and QMS certifications crucial for market access to over 44 countries.

Liz Carnibuci is currently Vice President, Enterprise Accounts and Services for Medtronic ANZ and Japan and is also Vice President Asia Pacific and Greater China for Medtronic’s Diabetes business.

As one of MTAA’s Board of Directors, she has a solid understanding of the duties and key governance principles and strategies to drive board success.

Arjun, a life science researcher, holds a Master’s in Public Health from the University of New South Wales and a Master’s in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Technology Sydney. He co-founded Clinrol in 2020, which revolutionises healthcare by addressing clinical trial challenges with its innovative AI platform. Arjun is passionate about partnering with organisations to solve today’s biggest challenges in clinical trials.

Michael as Director of Health Economics & Government Affairs for Australia and New Zealand, leads activities related to health economics, technology assessment, government affairs, and policy. He is a member of the ANZ Leadership Team and has successfully influenced device reimbursement and added new MBS items for physician fees. Michael’s leadership on various committees has helped minimise the impact of PHI reform on the medical technology industry, ensuring sustainability and continued improvement in patient outcomes.

Hon has been a pivotal leader at Medtronic for over 17 years, transitioning from a Business Analyst in Finance to influential sales and management roles within the Neuroscience Portfolio businesses. He was recognised for exceptional leadership, receiving prestigious awards such as the President’s Club award in 2023 and ANZ People Manager of the Year in 2014. Hon’s strategic vision and dedication have made a significant impact on Medtronic’s success in Australia and New Zealand.

Falko’s representation of the industry is marked by his unwavering passion, infectious sense of humour, and highly respected insights, shaping policies and garnering respect from  industry colleagues and government officials.

Polo has been a key figure in advancing the Medical Technology industry, demonstrating exceptional leadership in public policy, government relations, and communications during his 6 years at Edwards. His co-publication in Health Expectations provided valuable insights into patient preferences for heart valve disease interventions. Polo’s collaboration with renowned cardiologists highlighted the need for improved early diagnosis of heart valve disease. His efforts in promoting patient-centric healthcare and strengthening relationships with Indigenous communities showcase his impactful industry contributions.

Yan, a Senior Quality Manager at the Australian e-Health Research Centre in CSIRO, has over a decade of experience in quality and regulatory roles, with a recent focus on Software as a Medical Device. She led the implementation of ISO 13485 QMS at the Australian e-Health Research Centre, streamlining the development process and accelerating the delivery of life-saving innovations. Yan’s leadership ensures that medical devices meet the highest standards, improving patient outcomes and positioning the Centre as a MedTech research leader.

Jeneth is a highly accomplished professional with nearly 30 years of experience in the medical industry. Her expertise spans medical sales, equipment, pharmaceuticals, and education. She is dedicated to introducing innovative medical devices, driving business growth, and ensuring superior patient outcomes. With a Master of Business Administration and a diploma in Diagnostic Radiography, both with Dean’s awards of excellence, Jeneth has consistently achieved global sales recognition and established trusted relationships with Clinical Service Providers.

Katie is a seasoned project and financial analyst with 30 years of experience, including a decade in digital health research. As the QMS Project Manager at the CSIRO Australian e-Health Research Centre, she has been instrumental in transforming how research institutions collaborate with industry to bring digital health innovations to market. Katie’s leadership has driven change initiatives, ensuring medical devices meet the highest safety standards, significantly improving patient outcomes and enhancing quality of life.

Lisa Kirsch has been instrumental in advancing the development of robotic surgery in Australia, relentlessly driving technological innovation through da Vinci Robot access and helping to redefine surgical outcomes across the country by supporting the development and access of high-quality training of surgeons across Australia and New Zealand for over 14 years. Her leadership has not only elevated the capabilities of hospitals and surgeons through cutting-edge robotics but also championed the empowerment of female leaders in a traditionally male- dominated industry.

With over 25 years of unwavering dedication to the MedTech industry, Ruth has made an exceptional impact on the field of regulatory and quality compliance. As Head of Quality and Regulatory for Australia and New Zealand at Device Technologies, Ruth has been a driving force behind ensuring the safety, compliance, and market access of innovative medical technologies. Her contributions span decades, marked by a relentless commitment to regulatory excellence and quality assurance.

Dr. Jeffery is a multi-talented individual with a background in engineering, the military, and medicine. He has a proven track record as a three-time founder, having created a publicly listed hearing health technology company and a global orthopaedic implant company. Using his expertise in both product development and commercialisation, Dr. Jeffery has brought to market over 2,000 different medical devices and established sales networks in 5 continents.

Sarah has been with Stryker of over 10 years and is currently the Director of Government, Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance. Sarah has been an important contributor to
the activities and advocacy of MTAA’s Reimbursement and Regulatory Affairs
Committees over a number of years. Sarah has played a central role in determining
MedTech industry strategy that has helped to expedite market access.

Gerry has dedicated his entire career to healthcare, supporting patients, physicians and colleague. Starting out as an emergency nurse in Scotland and moving to Brisbane in 1995, Gerry has spent the last 25 years working with therapies which provide life changing
outcomes for patients through his work in Neuromodulation in Australia.
